And what a great day it was for everyone.

On his birthday, Brooks decided it was time to stand all by himself. He also thought it was time to tease his parents in to thinking he was about to walk by holding his Daddy's hand and walking across the kitchen floor.

| PARTY TIME |
All day, Momma cooked and prepared for Brooks's first birthday party that was both a party for Brooks and the grown-ups, because let's face it, there's only so much partying a one year old can do. Or so we thought. Brooks was the life of the party, and after having the shortest of naps and having scheduled a party around his new nap time, Brooks showed no sign of being tired, cranky, or shy! He crawled all over the place and in and out of the party rooms. He had the most fun being the center of attention of some of the older girls, namely our neighbors! They hugged on him, picked him up, fell over, and all with smiles and laughter. The highlight of the night was Brooks's first time eating cake. Momma made Spiced pear cupcakes with maple cream cheese frosting, and Brooks loved it but also new when to say "all done." And the fun of the night, mixed with the lack of napping, helped Brooks go to sleep that night with no problem, sugar and all. Nothing would keep his cute little eyes from shutting tight when it was time to say "night night."

The next morning we opened birthday presents and Brooks was excited by all the books, puzzles, and toys he received. All in all, it was a great weekend for turning one.
